I started a daily training regimen on December 30, 2020. Since then, I have not missed a single day of physical exercise. Whether I’m rolling on the mats in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, weight training in the gym, or going for a run, I get some type of exercise in every day. So I speak from experience when I talk about the benefits of athletics.
And in this article, I’m going to unpack some of the biggest benefits of training every day. Keep reading to learn more.
5 Benefits Of Athletics And Why You Should Train Daily

Whether you’re already fit and in shape, looking to strengthen your current training program, or haven’t seen the inside of a gym since high school, a daily training regimen will change your life.
But before you get up in arms with how you don’t have the time to train for an hour daily, just stop. Neither do I. For this reason, you’ll be pleased to know that not every training session needs to be an intense 45-minute workout. Yes, those are part of it, but sometimes, a training session can be just following along with a 5-minute YouTube video.
The idea is to just do some type of physical activity daily. With that in mind, here are 11 benefits of a daily training program.
1. Skyrocketed Self-Confidence
I have a question for you…
If you compared a competent athlete against a languid couch potato in regards to self-confidence, who do you think would stand taller, hold their head up higher, and walk with more swagger? It’s a rhetorical question, as anyone with an inkling of critical thought could easily determine the answer…
The athlete will win, hands down, every time. But why?
Because self-confidence is earned by pushing yourself through difficulty. One of the major benefits of athletics is that you’re constantly challenged. As a result, it’s only natural that your confidence will grow the more you accept and surmount the physical difficulties that training presents you with.
2. A Strong And Healthy Body
Do you know anyone who wishes they were overweight and out of shape?
No? Me either. Everyone wants a strong and healthy body, and it’s easy to see why. You can have all the money, resources, connections, and high-quality relationships in the world, but what good are any of those assets if you can’t enjoy them due to poor health?
One of the most obvious benefits of athletics is the pleasure of having a strong and healthy body. In fact, I would say this is one of the best (and most critical) advantages.
3. More Energy And Vitality
Imagine being a high-spirited, high-octane, high-performing powerhouse.
You know as well as I do that this type of tenacity doesn’t come from being halfhearted. You need vitality and vigor. Without that internal spark of enthusiasm, you’ll lack potency and power in life. Now, here comes the good part…
Athletics can give you more energy and vitality by:
- Improving your cardiovascular health
- Increasing your body’s ability to use oxygen efficiently
- Reducing tiredness and fatigue
- Improving sleep quality which can result in more energy during the day
Athletics can reignite the fire of enthusiasm in your life. And that can make you more passionate about enjoying more of what the world has to offer.
4. A Competitive Spirit
Healthy competition is a necessary thing…
It’s competition that drives industries to innovate; it’s competition that motivates businesses to improve their products and services; it’s competition that propels people to work harder and develop skills.
In short, healthy competition demands action and improvement.
And one of the benefits of athletics is that it facilitates this kind of competitive spirit in the minds and hearts of people. There’s a reason why successful athletes often become successful in other areas.
It’s because they’ve developed the mentality of healthy competition that they then apply to other endeavours.
5. Community Of High-Quality Peers
Follow my logic for a moment…
Individuals who regularly train are usually disciplined people. Disciplined people tend to set loftier goals. Loftier goals usually lead to greater success and fulfilment. And greater success and fulfilment mean a higher quality and more meaningful life.
Wouldn’t you want to be surrounded by people who live like this?
Of course, you would! For this reason, another one of the major benefits of athletics is that it puts you in proximity to these types of high-quality individuals. And naturally, even if you’re nowhere near that level yet, the drive and ambition these people exude will begin rubbing off on you.
I’ll take that deal any day of the week.
Final Thoughts: My 90-Day Challenge To You
This is by no means an exhaustive list of the benefits of athletics.
There are countless other advantages that you will see if you decide to take up some type of athletic pursuit. The good news is that it could be anything: martial arts, running, weight training, CrossFit, swimming, yoga, etc. And that brings me to the challenge I have for you…
If you don’t have one already, I challenge you to adopt some type of physical training into your routine and lifestyle. Pick a discipline and give it an honest try for 90 days. That’s only 3 months. Do it 2 to 3 times a week and see where it takes you.
You never know unless you try!
And remember, stay Motivated And Disciplined.
