My 3 Biggest Goals For 2023

The new year has arrived! And with 2022 behind us, I have a new set of goals for 2023. Moreover, I’d like to share some of those goals with you. I am writing this article for a few reasons, which are as follows:

  1. To hone in on how I want 2023 to unfold
  2. Inspire others to set and chase down their goals
  3. To hold myself accountable to my objectives

These are the primary reasons I am posting this article. In this blog, I am going to share with you my biggest goals for 2023 and why I’ve decided these objectives are worthy of me. Hopefully, this write-up will inspire you to create your own list of goals for 2023 and begin working toward them every day.

But with that said, in no particular order, here is my 2023 goal list.

1. Train at Evolve MMA in Singapore

Singapore; the Lion City. This international hub for trade and commerce is home to one of the world’s best martial arts academies—Evolve MMA. And as a dedicated martial artist, I’ve wanted to train here for quite a while.

In fact, this goal has been on my bucket list for over a year now.

And in 2023, I’ll finally be able to cross it off! My flight is booked for February 27/2023. My finances are in order, my job is set for me to work remotely, and I’m training hard in the interim for the trip!

The Reasons for my Singapore Trip

  1. To See What I’m Made of: One of my greatest pleasures is seeing what I’m capable of. It’s my belief that all of us are operating at a fraction of our true potential. As a result, it’s good to test yourself from time to time.
  2. Explore and Experience: I grew up sheltered; I haven’t seen much of the world. At 31 years old, I’ve only left Canada twice, and both times I went to California. So I want to explore more of the world and experience something completely different from what I’m used to.
  3. To Train, Grow, and Develop: I began training in martial arts about a year and a half ago. And it completely transformed my life. It has made me stronger, quicker, more agile, more competent and confident, etc. And I want to continue this development. Evolve MMA is the best academy in all of Asia (and one of the best in the world). I’ll be training under World Champions—people who are the BEST in the sports. This is an incredible opportunity for me to learn, grow, and develop not just as a martial artist and athlete but as a man.

2. Complete a Spartan Race

It is December.26/2022; it’s 9:10 am as I’m writing this. I’m sitting at my black dinner table typing on my laptop, and I kid you not… I literally just purchased my ticket to run the Abu Dhabi Spartan Race in the UAE on Dec.10/2023.

I feel invigorated!

If you’re unfamiliar with what a Spartan Race is, it’s an intense, endurance-based obstacle course. Some of the obstacles in the race include:

  • Rope climbs
  • Plate drags
  • Log, farmers, and chain carry
  • Rolling mud
  • Swim/water crossing, and more

So once my martial arts training in Singapore is complete, I’ll be making my way to the United Arab Emirates to compete in my first Spartan Race!

3. Earn my Blue Belt in BJJ

As of this writing, I’ve been training in jiu-jitsu for over a year. In fact, it’s actually been a year and a half. I am currently a 3rd-degree white belt. At this point in my martial arts journey, it’s not only possible but likely, that I’ll receive my blue belt sometime in 2023—provided I keep a consistent training schedule.

Why Earning my BJJ Blue Belt Matters

Why is earning my BJJ blue belt important to me? Simple. It represents A) proficiency in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. And B) it is indicative of my level of self-discipline and dedication as a martial artist.

I took Brazilian jiu-jitsu for many reasons:

  • Stay healthy and fit
  • Learn self-defence to protect myself and those I care about
  • Meet and connect with new people
  • To test myself and see what I’m capable of

2023, I’m Ready For You

On December 31, 2023, I will publish a new post, updating you on the achievement of the goals in this one. Also, it’s important to note that this list is by no means exhaustive. I have many other goals and objectives this year that are in the works.

These are just among my primary goals for 2023. Hopefully, this article inspires you to set some lofty aims for yourself and begin making progress toward them.
