NEW: A Simple Plan to Strengthen Your Self-Discipline Fast

Do you wonder how you can strengthen your self-discipline fast?

If so, you’re in the right place. Developing self-control is necessary for a happy, healthy life. However, self-control is the one thing most people lack. Therefore, if you can get a grip on your impulses, you’ll put yourself miles ahead of the common person.

But how do you do it? And how long will it take?

Typically, I’m not a fan of microwave solutions. Things take time, and you have to exercise patience with the process. However, I understand that self-discipline is something everybody wants—yesterday. And over the years of cultivating my discipline, I’ve discovered a simple “hack” that allows this process to occur in a fraction of the time.

Disclaimer: Yes, you can strengthen your self-discipline fast with this plan. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to exert effort.

And with that in mind, keep reading to learn how to build discipline quickly.

A Practical Plan to Strengthen Your Self-Discipline Fast

Grab a pen and a piece of paper.

This plan will provide the blueprint for accelerating your self-discipline.

1. Decide What Needs “Fixing”

Do you lack discipline with your finances, your health and fitness, or maybe keeping your word and commitments? What needs “fixing” in your life? You may determine numerous things that require your attention.

Pick one.

Remember, this plan is about simplicity. I don’t want you getting bogged down with half a dozen things that dilute your focus—you can get to the others later once you’ve built some momentum.

For now, you must take some steps in a positive direction, so ask yourself…

What is it right now that’s giving you the most pain in your life? What’s the most pressing or urgent? The answer should be obvious. And once you’ve clarified that, you now have a place from which to start to…

2. Create Your Improvement Plan

You need a plan of attack. People don’t accidentally become rich or get in fantastic shape. Not a chance; these results spring from the application of a plan that was persistently applied.

And if you’re going to strengthen your self-discipline fast, you need to do the same.

3. Make Success Easy

I’ve mentioned this in numerous posts.

But the best way to strengthen your self-discipline fast is to make success easy. What does this mean in practical terms? Here are a few examples of this principle:

  • Intelligence: Read one page from a non-fiction book a day.
  • Passion project: If you’re writing a novel, for example, write 100 words a day instead of a chapter a day.
  • Health: Trying to get in shape? Eat an apple a day.

Notice the common theme in the aforementioned examples? Two things are occurring:

  1. You’re going for the low-hanging fruit by making success easy and…
  2. You’re doing these simple actions every day

It’s the consistency that builds momentum and snowballs your self-discipline. And consistency is achieved by, at least initially, making success easy.

How Long Does it Take to Build Self-Discipline?

Now the question that’s probably top of mind: How long until you actually become disciplined?

The simple answer is the moment you start acting disciplined.

I know that may feel like a bit of a copout, but it’s the truth. The moment you start exercising discipline in your life is the moment you become disciplined. There is no timeline of 5 weeks or 3 months or a year and a half, etc.

You are disciplined when you start acting like it.
